As there is no guaranties that the dry food is not contaminated, all wet food that was tainted has been taken off the shelf. However, you should really be looking for an organic dog food made by a small company. Menu (the company that caused the contamination), was in many popular brands of food. A smaller company would be making there own food without buying any ingredients from other corporations. A few table scraps never hurt a dog. However, it should not become a dogs regular diet. Sugars and other food ingredients can cause obesity and other health problems. You can also look into buying a food that busts a dogs immune system. I know Eucanuba has a line of food just for that.

I feed my dogs dry food, but like you I worry about the next incident. I've not made any changes in their diet as of yet, I don't know what to do. My dogs eat a few table scraps but not many. I think they need the nutrition that comes from the dog food.

I have always fed my dogs Canidae. Canidae was not subject to the recall because (1) it doesn't contain wheat or corn fillers and (2) all of the ingredients are from the US. You may want to look for these characteristics in a dog food at the store. It is not only safer, it is also better for your dog. If you are going to feed your dog human food, I would suggest boiled chicken or beef (to remove the fat) and rice. However, you should give your dog a nutritional supplement if you are feeding this diet.

I'm still feeding dry but alternate occasionally with lean beef, chicken and pork (cooked) mixed with rice..But if you go with just the "homemade" diet..be sure to get supplements from you vet to be sure your pet has a blanced intake.

Bil-Jac, which I was already feeding them anyway. I get it at Petsmart. No powdered, poisoned Chinese wheat gluten in this stuff.
