My boyfriends sisters wedding is on April 7th and i need to find a dress. I used to wear size 0 in pants but im 11 weeks pregnant now so nothing fits-not even my dresses. The only dresses i could find that are cute and comfortable are black. I dont want to wear black because it seems depressing for a wedding but i cant find anything else! I am not in the wedding but i am gonna be the person standing by the book everyone signs i guess and she is giving me this hot pink rose to wear on my wrist. So i was thinking if i had the black dress..my toe nails and finger nails can be pink and pink eye shadow will that make it better? She said she doesnt care that i wear black but i kinda feel bad.. What do you think?

Wear a scarf or a shawl or something in a bright color, too. I did this for a wedding (black and light pink) and fit in fine with everyone else.

Black is generally a faux pas but if you added something cute to the dress like a sash just under your bust with a bow in the back that was pink (or whatever color she has for her wedding) or bought a shawl/scarf to wrap around your shoulders that would brighten up the dark and it wouldn't look like you're going to a funeral. Even a bright necklace would be great! Plus if everyone knows your pregnant and you explain it's the only thing that fits I believe they'd understand! Congrats on the baby!

I used to feel the same way about black. I used to avoid it at all costs because it was "too depressing". However, I learned that a LBD (Little Black Dress), is a staple in a womans wardrobe and can always be dressed up! Accessorize and do the dress up! You can even coordinate shoes with a sash below your bust line. Add a bit of sparkle with a nice broach. The possibilites are endless. You'll look slim, chic and absolutely fabulous! Best of luck. I'm sure that whatever you decide, you will look great!!!

I think wearing black is fine. And, like the others said add some color with accessories. Do some red beads and shoes, play w/ colors with your earings or bracelets. You can make a black dress look not so black.

And, as far as coming up w/ excuses to wear the black dress. . . .puleeez. I am a little woman. .. .petite and short and when I was pregnant I never found one single dress that didn't look like a sack on me. Maternity clothes are not easy to get a variety in unless you are willing to fork out the money for them. . .and I was not :)

during a wedding that is at night (after around 5 p.m.) then it is appropriate to wear black....i think that the makeup and nail polish color that you have decided will definitely make it better...and also you might want to add, for example a light weight pink scarf (the ones that you wear over a blouse not the ones that are made for winter) and then it would seem a little more spring-ish. don't worry from what i can perceive you will look fine, and i am sure no one will say anything

i imagine which will seem surprising! that is unique and interesting, plus evidently when the region of your mom in regulation's white gown without inflicting a kinfolk feud over it. and also you're surely suitable about white = purity being, as you positioned it, "bullcrap." that's a lengthy-operating trend type began by technique of Queen Victoria, who wanted to teach off some lace she had inherited; no longer some thing extra, no longer some thing a lot less. a useless ringer for with the Duchess of Cambridge in the present day; at the same time as a royal wore some thing each person else did, too. It became a promoting and marketing ploy that handed off to artwork all suitable which presented the idea of white meaning purity(as early because the 1870s-80s - purely 30 - 40 years after Victoria and Albert's wedding ceremony) and the idea stuck.

Black is fine. At my cousins recent wedding the girl at the door had on a black dress. The pink eye shadow and nails would look fine. go for it!

It is no problem to wear black - in fact it's become pretty standard. There aren't as many wardrobe faux pauxs at weddings as there used to be, so don't worry about it! Besides, you have an excuse. Just stay away from bright white. Your idea to brighten up the outfit is great. Have fun and smile at the wedding and no one will notice the color of your dress! Congrats on the baby...

As long as you are not wearing white it's ok, and yes it would look great of you add some pink to you dress, even a little wool sweater (short) on top, white, would make it a little more colorfull. Go to Motherhood .com they have really nice maternity clothes for cheap. Good luck, and you will look radiant anyway, you're pregnant. you will be the 2 most beautifull women there.

Best thing ever - you received permission from the bride! Wear your black dress and yes, pink accents would be very cute. :) I'm 5 months pregnant and honey, anytime you find something that fits while pregnant, it's a big deal.
