The Night Has a Thousand Eyes

The night has a thousand eyes,
And the day but one;
Yet the light of the bright world dies
With the dying sun.

The mind has a thousand eyes,
And the heart but one;
Yet the light of a whole life dies
When love is done.

I would think something like, your eyes can see many people that you find physically attractive, but your heart can lead you to the one person you are truly meant to be with.

This line contrasts the heart and the mind. A thousand eyes is a complicated, almost grotesque image pointing to the fact that the mind is complicated and grotesque. The heart, by comparison, is simple and unified, like the sun. Finally, there is no point in having a thousand eyes, if there is not light to see it by.
