Define academic success.

You need to learn how to prioritize first, and then balance your time. Schoolwork should come before anything during highschool, because it can really effect the rest of your life. However, you should also be able to have time to yourself to relax, get together with your friends or girlfriend, and just de-stress.

During the week, devote yourself to your work. Set aside periods of time per night to study, review, and complete any assignments or tasks that you have left hanging.

When the weekend comes... let yourself enjoy the time off! Spend the day with your girlfriend, go out, or sleep in all day. If you know you have something school-related to do, set aside an hour or two Sunday night to finish it off and then just chill out.

Staying away from girls will most likely just frustrate you more, and if you focus only on work and no play, you will be too burnt out to achieve any sort of success!

Life is full of choices...If you want a 4.0, then perhaps that requires giving up a social life for you, or love life...If you just want to make decent grades, there should be no reason you can't pace yourself with homework and enjoying the company of a girl/girls. It's really up to you...If Mom or Dad is the source of pressure/consternation, they really shouldn't be badgering you if you're pulling down a reasonable GPA.

All work and no play isn't healthy - FOR ANYONE. All things within reason and moderation.

If someone is making you feel guilty, go to the source and ask them WHY they keep bugging you about it? -Or, do you already know the answer to this question? I was a better student in College than HS, for some, its the other way around. Did it hurt me? NO. Did I allow it to bother me? NO. -And did I allow anyone else to bother me about it? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Learn to pace yourself dear where you feel you're giving your best but not giving up your youth to do so...
