The abortion issue is unfortunately a political football right now, but in answer to your original question any individual should have the right to choose to have any medical procedure they want. If abortion was outlawed it would only go underground not be stopped.

Abortion is too much of a slippery issue to prohibit it. If those who are truly pro-life believe that abortion is acceptable if the lives of the mother/child are in danger if parturition occurs, then they must be willing to handle the court trials of whether or not the abortion was truly necessary.
People can lie. Either the patients or doctors. Medical records can be forged, or read with a bias.
Prohibiting abortion, from a realistic approach, will create far more problems than legal abortion does.
And the interesting thing I would like to point out is, that many people who are pro-life cite the Bible as to why it should be illegal. Even though this country was founded on similar principles, this country does not use the Bible as a source of law, only morality (in some cases). In fact, many Americans don't even follow the Bible. Some don't even believe in a God.
So my point is, should the law force people who do not believe in the Bible to follow a law that is based off of its teachings?

There ought not to be any relation between abortion and politics; abortion is a private matter in which the state has no reason to be involved. But zealots persist in trying to make abortion a political issue.

Of course it is all political. There is not one word in the Bible that says abortion is wrong. --NOT ONE WORD---
I have asked on numerous occasions for someone, anyone, to give me a verse in the Bible that supports the pro life view. Not even one person could give any support for their belief.
Anyone that says that abortion is murder is calling God a murderer. Because it is God that invented abortion and practices abortion every day. And it is simple to see why abortion is important to God. He has already created enough people on Earth. So many in fact, that if you take the funds used to force a fetus to be born and raised, that same money could be used to raise 12 loved and wanted kids. So by saving one fetus, the pro life movement is killing 12 kids. God knows this and that is why he is pro abortion.

Abortion is wrong. It is a sin according to God and even if you disagree with me on that think about this.A woman who has never had an abortion has no way of knowing how it will affect her emotionally etc until it is too late to change her mind. A woman who knows how it will affect her because she has already had one is irresponsible because she is now considering her second abortion and therefore is using it as a method of birth control. The other point I want to make is that ther e are so many forms of birth control out there that there should really be no reason for abortion. I know birth control is not full proof but if someone truly does not want to have a child that badly then they should not be having sex int he first place. Lets also not forget that it is also a s in to have sex outside of marriage. I know I have angered many with some of my statements but that does not change the biblical truth that my opinions stem from. I think abortion is murder and therfore is a political matter. if it is illegal to kill a childafter it is born then why should it be legal to kill one before it is born.I am amazed at how many fightso passionately for the right to kill a life growing inside them.If you are that apposed to having a child then do what ever it takes NOT to get preganant.Anyone who woudl be willing to kill an unnborn child to avoid having a baby should NOT be having sex. Period.

I believe Roe v Wade should be overturned however I do not think abortion should be illegal. A common misconception is the if Roe is overturned then abortion will automatically become illegal. It will put it in the hands of the states to decide for themselves the issue. If you want abortion to be illegal then vote for politicians that support your view, and vice-versa. I just don't think it is a constitutionally protected right.

I think a better question is what could convince a woman to kill her child?
It is the demonizing of women.
It is the total disrespect of mothers and motherhood and why motherhood and child birth is not financially compensated by society.
Motherhood is the most important occupation in society and women are not only not compensated for the most important job but they are demonized and penalized for pregnancy and child birth.
How quickly would the abortion of children disappear if women were compensated.

Abortion is a personal issue with moral and ethical problems of its own. Personally, I am against abortion, but it is not my place nor the government place to make that decision for anyone else.

I think people should mind their own business and quit looking to the government to enact laws for things that they are personally opposed to. If you're against abortion then don't have one; otherwise, we're in America and you can't force your religious/personal beliefs onto other people.
