Is it the Division leaders get the top 3 spots or do the three teams with the best record despite division get the top 3?

The top 4 seeds will go to division leader and someone who has a bettter record
ex. Detroit (Division Leader)
Clevland
Miami (Division Leader)
Toronto (Division Leader)

The three teams with the best record despite division titles get the top 3 seeds. That eliminates the screw-up the NBA made last year when San Antonio faced Dallas in the 2nd round.

The division leaders get at least a top 4 finish and the top 2 records get the top spots....this only matters in the East....but in the playoffs the best record gets home court

The 3 with the best record get the best seeds........but if a division winner has the 10th best recond in that conference that team will get in as the 8th seed.....so winning the division guarentees you will get a playoff birth.......but you will be seeded by record..
This is new this year because Dallas had the 2nd best record in the west last year and didn't have home court advantage in the second round!

It is the division leaders who get the top three spots. No madder there record. Which yeah can be stupid if there record is crap.

It is the best overall records that get the top spots they changed it this year because of the whole dallas and spurs matchup in the second round of the playoffs last year. the best two teams were playing each other in the second round so they wanted to change that.
