Regarding cleaning the carbon residue off the glass after burning wood.
I am having trouble finding the right cleanning product to clean the black carbon off the transparent (now dark black) glass window in which you can see through. It's just the fact, i cant see what's going on inside the hearth while the fire is going!!

Any one know a solution of any kind, or a commercial product that can clean the glass windows on the hearth door??

Try nail polish remover. But be very careful, as it is very very flammable, and make sure there are no flames anywhere nearby when you do it. It works great.

Acetone takes off carbon and organic materials quite nicely. It is also available at a hardware store. However, make sure to use in a highly ventilated area. It smells very bad and can give headaches.
In chemistry acetone is commonly used to clean glassware so I cant imagine why it would not help. It also should not affect the glass.

I had the same problem and found that vacuuming the glass first removed most of the soot. I then used an everyday glass cleaner .. it gets the cleaning cloth messy so I used kitchen (tissue) towels...came up like new.

(DO NOT USE FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS)

Peroxide or Clorox Clean Up will do the trick.
