be open to how she feels - why did she cry? was it just a sad sight or does it have some other meaning (from her childhood or something?)
once she has explained - explain to her what your rationale is for killing the roach
she'll get over it

Put it in a match box say a little prayer of some sort; only don't forget to hold your wife's hand while doing so and bury it; along with the grave marker and all.
