If the parents of the child are Christian, it's up to them to introduce them to a church. The Church can assist the community, helping parents/carers and children's clubs etc. The Church can make itself visible and friendly to the community, but can't do more than that, as there are other paths, religions and denominations.

It adds a more comprehensive education in practical Christian living as well as in theology. The home and parents have one angle on Christian education, the church has another and the Christian school has the angle of showing that all parts of life and all areas of study fall under the Lordship of Christ.

The bible says to not forsake the assembling together of the believers. The role of the church is to disciple believers, help meet the needs of the community, and the assembling (fellowship) of the believers.
Just a side note: All education starts in the home not just christian education. We send our children to school to learn what we cannot teach them, just like we go to church to learn more ourselves and for our children to learn what we don't yet know ourselves.

I think the church should equip the parents to teach their children, but in schools (unless it is a church school), they should keep out of the education side in terms of setting the curriculum etc this only puts people off. They should provide input for lessons when it comes to relevant topics, but mainly they should offer a chaplaincy role, supportive and open to all. Actions speak louder than words.
