Most Christians are not pro war--only the right-wing fringe tha tsupports Bush..
As for your question--Democrats seem more peaceful , etc. because of one reason: actions speak louder than words.

Decades ago Democrats were considered more religious, socially conservative and charitable towards the poor. Republicans were more like today's libertarians (give the military what it wants, otherwise leave me alone!)
Then probably starting in about the 1930s (because of the labor movement) the Democrats began to radicalize a little. By the 1960s and 1970s the Democrats (at least in the more liberal branches) had welcomed in a lot of groups that the more old fashioned members of their party might not have been entirely comfortable with (African Americans, feminists, environmentalists, and to a lesser extent then, homosexuals)
The Republicans saw this and an opportunity for votes by changing their message from "leave me alone" to "remember the good old days before all these confusing people showed up?" and with this new message lifted the Christian outlook that had once been Democrat territory.
That's why the Democratic party (hopefully) retained its moral, peaceful and sympathetic views but Republicans are considered more Christian today.

You really need to get out more if you think dems are more "moral" than republicans. What you need to understand is the difference in moral and ethical...a moral man knows it is wrong to cheat on his wife, but an ethical man would never cheat on his wife. However, the democrats that are far left liberals are some of the unethical people you will ever find. Americans, all of them-- liberals and conservatives need to understand that those people that we are at war with want to kill you me and anyone else that is American. This country was founded by Christian and ethical men (not perfect men) and you can find examples everywhere that shows how people, the majority of which are liberal, want to take God out of everything we do, the same God who has blessed this country and made is so great. America has always allowed people to do pretty much anything they want, way more than Jesus as a man on earth would have ever allowed. But even a shepard needs to protect his flock. Dont think that Jesus himself couldnt get upset...dont forget he went in the temple and turned over some tables and chased the people doing evil out of his Fathers house!

There are moral and peace loving people in both major parties who are also sympathetic to the poor as Jesus preached. Both sides have their hypocrites too. It does seem because of their association with the radical, religious, evangelicals that there are more hypocrites on the right than on the left.

Exactly as you stated, they are sympathetic. They do not like confrontations. I'm not saying they're chickens, but sometimes it's the correct and moral thing to do. Republicans in the other hand, loves a war. Loves to initate wars.

Because they are more moral and peaceful and sympathetic to the poor as Jesus preached, what is unclear? Look at history. I think Christians now vote and think as they are told to. They seemingly do not make their own decisions, the church decides for them. What a pity.Too bad they don't recognize the separation of church and state, our for fathers were not stupid. If you believe God gave you a brain then use it.

What are you talking about? Would Jesus defend and protect evil tyrants like Hussein, Chavez, and Castro the way the Dems do? Nobody is "Pro-War". That's a left-wing Marxist smear that's used against us every time we attempt to protect ourselves. Was JFK Pro-War (Cuban Missile crisis)? Was Clinton Pro-War (Kosovo and Sudan)? Was FDR Pro-War? The Democratic Party is a party of obstructionists. Will they stand up against our enemies? I don't think so. Their only interest is POWER and they will do anything to get it. Even if it means aid and comfort to the enemy.

Yin / yang ... liberal thoughts are progressive in nature, conservative (poor word to describe these types) thoughts are the opposite (ie. backwards) Republican activist types are hypocrites and have learned to say one thing and do another for votes. (simple minded types fall for this act) Democratic types are idealists seeking unrealistic solutions to complex problems, often losing sight of reality in their fog of compassion. Democrats remind me of a clumsy well meaning uncle who breaks things stumbling around trying to help. Republicans remind me of an self righteous aunt who never has the story right and steals from you when she thinks you are not paying attention, then blames the uncle.

I think it is a lack of people thinking for themselves. When an issue like this comes up, it seems like the 29% bush approval cool aid drinkers run to whoever they get their information from and drink it all in as if it came from Jesus himself. As a whole, American needs to improve in teaching critical thinking.

There is very little understanding of the true teachings of Jesus the Christed One. He made it very clear..."Do good unto those who spitefully use you, and to do so will heap coals of fire upon their heads." That is not the Republican dogma at all. They use Christianity as a guise for their ill-behavior.
