i am interested in a sociology major and want to be a middle school or high school teacher, what could i teach with that degree and where could i find more information about it?

Yes, you can. High school would probably be a better fit. In fact, a lot of high school have psychology, sociology, or a behavior science class in their curriculum. But, you will still need to have a certification in a specific area. Check with the school district in the state where you want to teach. Just type in the state and school districts, then go to the district website. If you don't teach, you may want to consider counseling. You may have to take some couseling courses, but with a degree in sociology, you are probably half-way there.

Laws vary from state to state but most states would require a student teaching stint to get your teaching certificate. I would call the prospective district you are interested in and get some info about teaching requirements. The college you choose would also be a good source of info.
