You give them a straight forward answer and you get a thumbs down. They must think that giving you a down will rectify their problem huh?

i've addressed this issue many times before. too bad there isn't a board to show thumbs down answers that we can look and laugh because someone read and disapproved of the answer.

e.g. there was a question i answered about 'what's with all the basketball on primetime? i thought that was what ESPN was for.' i gave them the exact reason why their stupid little shows were being interrupted, and i got two thumbs down. i mean, you want an answer? you got it, don't be upset because it interferes with your likes. i just took into consideration that it was spring break and there were a bunch of toddlers on the yahoo answers those weeks

I think that being an asker is just as frustrating as being an answerer. From what Ive noticed, I can see only about 15-20 people actively answering computer questions with a clear intent to help people by using actual knowledge. I see 10 bad answers from people who have no idea what they are talking about for every 1 mediocre answer, and 10 mediocres for every 1 GOOD answer.

Also consider there are some real gems out there who will actually type out laughter at someone because of the question they asked. Throw public humiliation ontop of the fact that your comptuer STILL doesnt work and you end up with one very frustrated asker.

I can't work out how to grade the thumbs up, only how to do best answer. That's what's wrong with us questioners and that's what we're here for.
