Rabbits do not like to be picked up. It is very scary for them and you should only do it when absolutely necessary, like when trimming his nails or taking him to the vet. Let your rabbit come to you on his own terms and just understand that he does not want to be picked up and held.

Give your rabbit at least three hours of play time outside his cage each day. But don't reach in and get him out--always let him go in and out of his cage on his own. The cage is his personal space so don't reach in unless you are feeding him. Try to clean his cage while he is not in it.

I agree that you should sit and let your bunny get used to seeing you. You don't want him to only think of food and water when he sees you. He will come to you and get used to you. Are you sure it is a male? Females are usually a bit aggressive and bite more so than males. When you hold him you will need to cradle him so his nose is towards your elbow and you can hold him still with your hand. It is also a good idea to pick him up by the nape of his neck and hold his hind feet in the other hand then cradle him. It saves you from being scratched and if a rabbit twists too much it can kill them ( they get a twisted gut and they end up dying from that). They are lots of fun. Don't let him associate your hand with food they bite food. Enjoy him they are really nice comforting pets.

Some bunnies don’t like to get picked up. He is probably is a very independent bunny and likes to be in control. Respect its wishes and take things gradually. Spending time at its level will make your bunny fell comfortable.

I had the same problem a while back, rabbits dont like you putting your hands in THEIR home. I let my rabbit come out to me by tempting her with food and toys. to tame the rabbit sit in the bathroom with your bunny as no wires and harmfull things can get to them in there, hand feed the rabbit and let it run away and come back to you when she wants, itll show you arnt going to hurt her, i did that for a while and now my rabbit rubs noses with me and even sleeps in my bed some nights. Good luck =]

Trust me all rabbits are like that. I have owned one. Its perfectly natural for your rabbit to do that. They're not fully domestic animals. Sometimes they get scared of humans causing scratching. They want to feel safe. When holding a rabbit make sure you hold him to your chest so he will have a platform. It doesn't mean he hates you. He is just terrified .Another thing is they would rather not interact with humans. Hope this helps.

hes probably scared. rabbits are prey in the wild and being picked up high will scare the heck outta them.
try and sit down and let your rabbit come to you and have a climb and a sniff. try hand feeding him. some rabbits really dont like to be picked up.
its not hes unhappy just scared thats all. your much much bigger than him and his natural instincts of running and hiding are just kicking in thats all.
