Shakespeare's only concern was satisfying his audience which was composed of everyone from the humblest working class men to the Kings and Queens of England. In other words, Shakespeare wanted success and the financial rewards which it brings.

He was writing to earn a living. In the first place he had to satisfy and audience - but he had to do it in such a way that he did not run foul of the political censors of the time. They were a rough and ruthless lot. The problem was that audiences liked dramas about dangerous topics. Not the least aspect of Shakespeare's genius was that he pulled that trick off. I hope this helps one whose screen name is so similar to my own.
