I wouldn't worry about it. It's happening to me right now, and I'm on the pill. When I went to take one last weekend, however, I realized I had missed a day somewhere. The same thing happened earlier in the month. I'm usually so good about taking it. I don't remember the last time I missed one. However, I've had it happen, too, without missing one. It's always happened when I've been under a lot of stress. Over the holidays this past year, I had it a couple of times, just some mid-cycle spotting (my in-laws are absolutely off their rockers and there has been a huge falling-out, so I was very stressed). I had a checkup in January and all was well. I've also had it when I've went on vacation or when I would move back to college in the fall for some reason. If it happens again next month or doesn't stop between now and the start of your next one (provided you've taken all your pills), go see a doctor. Don't panic yet.

I know your pain. I was regular then got on pills and started to have long, 10-day periods and then no less then a week later had another 4-5 day period.
I asked my doctor and she said that it was because I wasn't taking my pills perfectly as directed. Which I wasn't, and who does? Even if you miss 2 pills it can mess up your menstrual cycle. So stay on top of those pills!
But then again if your taking them perfectly even around the same time everyday and still have that problem you might want to switch to lower dose birthcontrol. They have one where you only get your period every 3 months, and one where your periods only last up to 3-4 days. But definately talk to your doc about it!

Did you miss a couple pills? This happened to me, and messed up my whole schedule. I kept getting 2 periods in a month, and I didn't get my period when I was supposed to during the cycle. My doctor told me to start the pills again. He said to stop taking them until I got my period, then start the cycle again.
P.S. I probably don't have to mention this, but if you do start over, use another form of birth control in the meantime.

If u r on a pill, then u must have a period only after u stop having ur pill.In ur case there is a possibility of having ur period if u missed out taking ur pill for about 2 days in a line.It may also happen if u r new to this pill and it did not suit ur body.To be on the safe side it is good to consult ur gynecologist as ur next cycle of pills will also depend on this period.

I wouldnt panic-you can have spotting in between periods, even the package insert mentions that it could be a side affect. Ive been on the pill for 7 years and this happens to me on and off, for no apparant reason, but all my check ups have been normal

Technically, you don't even have one period. It's a withdrawal bleed from stopping exogenous hormones. Mid-cycle bleeding is fairly common, and if it is a persistent problem your doctor may want to change you to a different pill. There's certainly no reason to panic.

it might be breakthrough bleeding, which is quite common with some types of birth control, particularly if you have just started taking the pill
