Would JK Rowling be so corny as to do the 'Star Wars' thing? She has pinched various bits from that series and Lord of the Rings and blended them into the Potter books. It would make sense in some ways. They have the same wand, they both speak parcelmouth.............

We've always been told that James was Harry's dad but if he wasn't then JK was hardly going to say right from the beginning that James was his dad (but not really it's Voldermort). LOL
I like the horcrux idea. That's a good theiry.

I can't believe how many people are saying that James is his dad - BECAUSE IT SAYS SO!! James most probably is Harry's dad. BUT just because it says so isn't a good reason is it? That's like saying that Scabbers is just a rat. The truth isn't always what it first seems is it?

If you look on the official JK Rowling site that she edits herself, she has a section with a list of questions that shes constantly asked that she wants to clarify arent true, voldermort being Harrys dad is one of them she vhemenantly denies and states it is def James theres no twist there!! She actually says sumthin like no ihavent done a star wars!! Wudnt tht be a case for ripping off star wars anyways lol!
And theres no reason to disbelieve this site as she also has qus on there tht she says well we'l have to see need to thnk about that in another way etc if there a grain of truth in one of someones ideas! The idea is so ppl can have fun trying to guess and re read the books and try and work out wht will happen, she'd prevent tht entirely if she deliberatley went oh no tht bits not true if it was. She states the only connection harry has to voldemort is the whole, mothers love in dying for him is stronger than any magic and thus thts why harry lives and obv tht galls voddie!!
I thought the same thing tht itd be cool and a friend directed me to the site! Shes not out deliberately mislead lol, shes said countless times in interviews as well, those exact words nope im not doing a star wars. Shes only cryptic and vague when sumone gets at sumthin half true, she doesnt reveal in what way right but nor will she dispel the myth as she wants be ppl to build on it. The fact that she comes right out and says in interviews and on her site that shes not doing a star wars wraps that oneup!

Voldermort is not Harry's Dad because JK Says so much that Harry looks like his Dad James.I Do Believe that harry is a Horcruxes and he will have to Kill him self in order for Voldermort to die. The only reason Harry Has his power is because of the Scar which I think it a mark to Show that Harry is a Horcruxes.

By the way, the resemblance of Harry and James is not yet an evidence :) I remember having read a fan fiction story (rather dull one, in fact), where Lily and Snape were lovers, and they used a spell or a potion (more likely) to make their kid look exactly like Lily's husband, so that James would have no suspicions. ;)

She didn't take ideas from Lord of the Rings - she used well known mythologies and folk-tale influences to create Potter. Plus she has categorically stated that Voldemort is not Harry's father. And anyway - what woman would ever sleep with him anyway? Lily Potter would never sleep with him - he was all weird looking and psychotic even before he came back to life in book 4.

James Potter was Harry's dad. I mean, they supposedly look a LOT alike. Anyway, James and Lily Potter would have friends who could probably confirm the fact (if they even existed).

Thats a pretty good theory (last comment) not yours...thats just absurd not to mention the the fact that it was explained how harry and voldemort share certain characteristics such as parsletongue and.. can read each others thoughts and stuff... ? so i think - its a no
and what did she steal from lord of the rings? im not saying she didnt cause im sure i recognised lots of things that reminded me of other films - but its not stealing bits - if she ever read lord of the rings - books influence people - and she probably didnt even realize - say if you wrote a story now - would you not think of other stories you have read?

actually, my brother has come up w/ an excellent theory - he thinks Harry is the last Horcrux. They alluded to it in the last book w/ Dumbledore told Harry that a living thing can serve as a horcrux.
