I think that hostages notwithstanding, either we will attack Iran or they will attack us. I do believe it will happen, and cannot be avoided.

Diplomacy and calm nerves will solve this situation. I think that the world can plainly see what Iran is doing. And I don't care what anyone says about the Iranians who were taken in Iraq. That does not justify Iranians taking British troops in Iraq.

Diplomacy is always first for civilized nations, but we won't wait 13 years for compliance like we did with Iraq. If harm comes to the hostages, harm will come to Iran. Bet on it.

Interesting dilemma the US is in now. The British were the greatest ally for America when the country went to war. So is turn about fair play? Do we support the British by going to war along with them? What if Britain pulled the 'you are with us or against us' speech? Would that resound to Bush? And what about the Americans that supported Bush in that particular rant? Is America ready and willing to put their troops on the line to support the British the way they supported the US?

I’m coming around to the appeasement mentality of our Democratic party and other short-sighted defeatists. I think that we should let Iran keep those British soldiers. Heck, we should ever send them several hundred thousand of our own just to make sure they have enough. Also, if they want nukes, we should send some over right away. One to every major city. That should appease the survivors.

The UK Navy should threaten to drop a cruise missile or two on the Iranian government and military installations unless the prisoners are released unharmed immediately and sink any Iranian naval vessels that stray withing Iraqi waters.

Something similar happened in 2004 and it was resolved by diplomatic means. 8 British sailors were captured then released a few days later.
