I also used the playtex drop-ins with my son. Its the only bottle he would take to. I just wanted to add a little snippet about everyone's recommendation on the Dr. Brown's bottles. They are a real pain to clean - they have quite a few parts and if you're as uptight about cleanliness as I am, you'll have problems with these bottles.
On a separate note, have you talked to your son's ped about him spitting up? His formula may need to be changed or he may suffer from reflux. After you feed your son, be SURE to prop him up (not only to help with the digestion and spitting, but also to make sure he doesn't choke). Do you burp in between ounces? That may also help (feed 2 ounces, burp, feed two ounces, burp, etc.). I would call your peditrician to see if they recommend a different formula - the iron mixes can often times be too rough on his little belly.
Good luck!

If you want to start with bottle changing first I use the Evenflo Comfi Nursers. They're just like the Playtex angled nursers, but about half the cost. Only the bottoms don't come off for easier washing. If that doesn't work I would seriously consider changing his formula. My son was so allergic to Similac Advance that he was constantly spitting up and had diarrhea which eventually lead to a tear in his lil bottom @ 10 days old. He's now on Isomil Advance which has helped a lot. He still spits up sometimes though because he also has reflux. This might also be something to look into. Try keeping him upright for 20-30 min after each feeding and see if that helps any. It may not be 100%, but it's worth a shot.

The extra Iron or Lactose might be too strong for the little guy. I had TONS of issues with my son vomiting because of formula. We ended up switching to Similac Soy Formula and that worked the best for him. The bags work OK - but they are a pain. My son liked the NUK nipple with any plastic bottle. What helped the most was switching to Soy and also put some books under each leg of his crib (the legs by the head) so that his head is raised up when he's sleeping. This will cut down on reflux and spitting up. Good luck.

First off you do not have to justify to ANYONE why you chose not to tit feed your child. I chose not to because it was not something that appealed to me. I use the playtex nursers with my son however when he was smaller {he's 10 months now} at 4 weeks of age I changed his bottles to Dr.Browns the nipples are very soft and he took to them quickly. Also burp your son more often. I had to burp my son every 1-1.5 ounces to prevent spitting up and he has NO medical issues

SNARK!
That's such a funny word...
Well I was gonna say Platex Nursers ...but you obviously already have experience with those...the only other ones I would suggest is Dr. Browns.
I'd talk to the peditrician and see what they say before I made any sudden dietary changes on the little one.
Good Luck! And Congratulations!

I love those bottles, but they mainly help with gas. I would consider the formula change over the bottles. Bottles really don't help spitting up problems.
It will take a week or two before you notice a difference with the formula change. Try a soy or Enfamil Gentlease.

My daughter was really picky with bottles and finally settled with the ventaire ones. The skinny one's though, not the wide (natural) ones. She is on the same formula as your son. Every baby is different though, and it could be the formula. He might need the lactose free formula or something that breaks down better. It's probaby too soon to tell.

Avent bottles are very good. They do prevent colic and are closest thing to the natural breast. Also, as you get your baby to wean off of the bottle, Avent accessories are interchangable-which means that when they are ready for a sippy cup, you can just go buy the white or green top to the sippy cup. I did not use it on my son, but now I wish I had.

I feel you on the snarky comments about breastfeeding but my daughter did well with the Dr, Browns bottles they are good for preventing colic as well. Hope that helps. He may also need to switch formulas also. GOOD LUCK
