Ok first of all, make sure that the battery is fully charged. If so, move on to checking all of your fuses. Go under the hood of the car and find a square plastic cover that says PDC, power distribution center, or something similar. On the back of that cover, there will be a key telling which fuse is which, find the one that says ignition or starter. If it is not blown, it is most likely that your starter is bad. Replace your starter and it will be good to go, but what kind of car is it? More info would be very helpful, good luck!!

A similar problem happened to me a few months ago. The dealer said, the fuel pump is damaged due to contaminated gas. The repair was not covered under warranty, but thankfully the insurance company pitched in. Ended up costing me my deductible of $500.
The dealer also suggested that I can claim the money from the gas pump if I had the receipt, which I didn't.
Hope this is not the case with you.

its a common fault on bmw ignition . mind hadnt gone, i had a problem with the dash symbols so i took it to bm dealer and he said common fault with bm ignitions. mine was ok though. anyway cut a long story short. new ignition about 50 quid. try this first though, may sound daft but this is what he told me to solve my problem and it worked. pull both sun visers down so the mirror lights come on put them back up,worked for me every thing back to normal. good luck.
