okay we all know that torchwood is a spin off from dr who but,
in peoples opinion which is better. Please state opinion and reasons.

Torchwood is the best...more interesting storylines.

To be honest other than the connection of one being a spin off of the other I don't think you can compare the two. Doctor Who has always been aimed at a youngish audience. Whereas Torchwood is aimed at the adult audience. As such the themes/subject matter are approached differently.
I would say Torchwood would be more comparable to something like Heroes.
As for Doctor Who, I can't think of another sci fi programme aimed at the same demographic that is currently on tv.

I love the Doctor! My sister has been a fan of the show since the William Hartnell days and I'm getting into it now with the new Doctor Who. Unfortunately I can't compare it to Torchwood because I live in Canada and we don't get that show here. Booooo to the CBC booo! Yes, I'm quite bitter about it.

Doctor Who - Worlds longest running, multi award winning, genre defining Sci-fi series.
Torchwood - Spin off of above. 1 year old. More concerned with sex than Sci-fi.
Simple isn't it? Torchwood is okay but DW is easily the best.

I'm in Canada
and we just finished the season with billy piper leaving and a new girl wearing a wedding dress materializing on the tartalus
we don't get Torchwood as a series over here
i am interested in checking it out tho if we do

Doctor Who anyday. It's got a more timeless appeal, whereas Torchwood is very "of the moment". I can't imagine it will still be being made in forty years time.

Dr Who,I'm 100 % addicted, not only is it a classic but David Tennant is incredibly sexy and brings something very special to the character
