Whatever you decide on, fifty people have already tried it before you, so don't spend too much time thinking of something brand new.
Think of peoples needs: Cleaning. Food. Comfort. Saving time. Being liked. Looking good. Avoiding scams. Fearing the future.
What do you know the most about now? DO you have a skill or trade that others would value? DO you possess knowledge that others would pay you a consulting fee for? Can you sell them a product or service right now that you are confident can fill their needs as discussed briefly above?
It's not so much 'what' you decide on, but 'how' you pursue it that will make the difference for you. NYC is a big city.
Anything could fly, within reason, if done right.
