You should play with your bunny at least once a day. They get destuctive (excessive digging, chewing, scratching) if they are contained for too long. Rabbits are most active in the morning hours and evening, so if your schedule allows that would be the best time for play. Rabbits aren't like cats or dogs, meaning in general they don't enjoy being picked up. It makes them very nervous. They are happy if you just sit on the floor with them and let them run circles around you.
It can take a rabbit a while to get comfortable with you, but once they are they love to be petted. From the tip of the nose all the way down their back is a fave! Avoid their chins and bellys, most rabbits don't like to be touched there.
They love to have things to jump over, hide under, and climb. If your bunny's cage dosen't have different levels for him/her to manuvre it's a good idea to set up a little obstecle course for when you let him/her out. Just some empty boxes can be tons of fun for a rabbit. It's good to have a toy or two in the cage to give a diversion for when he/she can't come out. Good toys for bunnys can be found at pet stores but you can also just give them baby toys, rattles, etc. My rabbit loves things like dish rags and socks. She picks them up in her mouth and throws them.
As far as taking bunny outside, if you mean out of the cage, but inside your house, at least once a day. You could let your bunny out in the yard but you must be VERY carefull. You really should have some kind totally contained area, and they should be attended the whole time. Not just a fenced in yard, way too easy for a bunny to squeeze under a fence, or for a cat or worse to get to you bunny before you can stop them. There's also issues of fleas, ticks, and plant dangers ( this applies inside as well) most captive rabbits can't tell the difference between what plants are good for them and which are harmfull. They do make bunny harnesses for taking them on walks, but good luck getting, and keeping, it on. In general I would recomend against bringing your bunny outside. They can be just as happy running around your house.
One last thing, if you have hardwood or tile type floors your bunny won't be very happy with them. Their feet are totally covered with fur and they can't get traction to run around. Get an area rug or even just lay down some old blankets or towels when you let them out.
Have fun with the bun bun
