How does the pronunciation vary by regional accent? I grew up in SoCal, so I think the way I say orange must be how it is pronounced there.

I live in nor cal and we pronounce it with a short "o" but who knows how they would pronounce it in the durty south. I have been there and they pronounce bananas as bannaners. They pronounce the letter double-u as dubyua. So yes, the pronounciation of several words varies by the region you live in.
