No. He will be signed to a new contract even before the season begins. The Mariners can ill afford to lose him. He is their franchise!!

Unfortunately he likely will. The Mariner's have never been known to drop too much cash on a single star.
Examples
Randy Johnson
Ken Griffey Jr.
A-Rod
I can not recall one all-star they have retained after free agency as is the case with most small market teams. The M's can't outbid the likes of the Yankees, and Red Soxs etc...
I am a M's fan and hope they make a solid effort to keep him but I realize it is more then likely he will sign a big $$$ deal and move on.
Felix for the Cy, Ichiro for MVP, and Putz will be the #1 closer in fantasy baseball! I hope LoL..

No, not next season.
He will be gone by the trading deadline. The Mariners will be faced with the decision to trade him early to a contender or lose him to free agency in the off season. He will end up a Dodger, Yankee, Red Sox, Padre, or Cardinal by the end of July.
In return the M's will get some of the high-end prospects they need to turn a losing franchise around.

Why does everytime a free agent is availible people assume the Red Sox or Yankees will get them, Ichrio doesnt seem like the guy who will play for a big market team, and Seattle is closest to Japan, and tons of tourists from Japan to see him, i dont see why the Mariners would get rid of him, if he does leave, it will be to a west coast team

Ichiro is likely to stay small market. I see him going to the Padres for a little bit more than he makes now. No way he will go to the AL east. He seems to understand the politics of the game and is smart enough to avoid that.

I agree with Kilroy. Unless the Mariners are in contention for the AL West crown at the trading deadline - which they won't be - the Mariners will trade him. If they keep him the whole year and they finish last again, he's gone. Then they get nothing for him. At least if they trade him during the season they'll get something back in return.

From the couple articles I've read it seems like he is interested in finding out what others will pay for his services. Without a doubt he will get bigger offers, Red Sox or Yankees, but will he take the money or stay in Seattle is the real question.

I can't think of one good reason he should stay.
He will be able to get top dollar from a possible contender.
Seattle has shown nothing that says thety will be able to contend with the AL's best any time soon. Would you stay in Seattle if you were him? No.

The way he talks makes it seem likely. He doesnt seem happy there anymore. Plus he knows there are plenty of teams that will pay him more then the Mariners will.
