Also wondering if anyone knew of a good place to look at playground equipment, I would like it to be for kids six and under. Thanks!

Definitely for the kids and not for profit, we have playgrounds for older kids but I would like to have one specifically catering to the preschool bunch. A community about an hour from us has one and we fell in love.

If you are wondering about funding, then I would look into your state's recreation and tourism department. Our community created a park using a grant from the Oklahoma Tourism dept. It had some matching funds included, but you can use volunteer time as part of the matching funds.

As far as the actual playground equipment that you install, you will need to make sure that it meets code. Also, the surface that the equipment is placed on must meet certain codes. I would suggest talking to your parks and recreation department. Good luck to you....be prepared for a lot of hard work, but it comes with great rewards!

Go to the city and find out what they require of you. Then Go to the Home Depot or what ever you have and talk to the Store Manager about Funding and donations of material and employee participation in making a playground

If your community has a home owners association go to the President and approach them with your ideas. Then if he/she is in agreement with your ideas you could work together with your HOA's management company and can recruit volunteers from your community to help you build this park. Also check into local organizations like girl/boy scouts, local high school clubs, or any other groups that could use the time to count as a community development. If you have a mailer that goes through your community ask local restaurants for gift certificates and advertise what they have given in this mailer and use those as door prizes to help entice volunteers. Good luck!

Do you want the city to build a playground or do you want to own one for profit?

Lowe's Home Improvement provides funding and materials also. Check with your local manager or their website.
