Yes, my dependable chevy geo prizm was 17 years old before she finally conked out on me. Never gave me any problems during the other 16 years I had her. Then on year 17 the timing belt went out and to fix it would not be worth it. The car isn't worth the labor the mechanics will charge.

Well when I started driving I got to drive my grandfather's Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme which when he bought it it was quite spiffy and new. He took great care of it when he was alive, worked on it everyday adjusting things and tuning things up... I got it though 10 years after he had died and I loved it. Its transmission slipped all the time and needed a whole bunch of new expensive parts. But the awesome part was that when the transmission would finally would catch when I pulled out into traffic it rocked with the rest of them.... I lived on dirt roads and would often peel out cause it would slip and suddenly catch. hahah it was great
