I'm doing a paper on this for one of my classes. It would probably be better for me to not put the answer of George W. in there (don't need to get a failing grade from my GW loving teacher) so I'm looking more for dictators. And what I'm looking for in bad is someone who controls the majority of the wealth, ruins the lives/kills their own citizens, commits war crimes. That type. I have my own ideas, but I'd like to see what other people say.

Thanks for all your answers. I thought about it and it's true that he would have a very difficult time explaining why he gave me a bad grade for putting our pres in the there. Free speech, even in campus settings is important to me, and he can just deal with what I say.

I think bush is the worst.. but since you want someone other than him... I would have to say the guy from Sudan.. don't know his name, but he ordered the slaughter of the people of Darfur...

reason: people from Darfur are muslims whom are descendants of Isreal and he is not...

over 500,000 people have been killed and 2.5 million people displaced from their homes...(they are running and hiding in bushes to get away from these cruel machete wielding maniacs.

Your teacher can't give you a bad grade for putting GWB in there...he'd havea hard time explaining that to the dean, provided you did a good job outlining why he is so bad.

My list would be (in order of most egregious, 1# is worst):

1) Kim Jong Il (N. Korea)
2) Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe)
3) Mahmoud Ahmedinejad (Iran)
4) Fidel Castro (Cuba)
5) George W. Bush
6) Hugo Chavez (Venezuela)
7) Vladimir Putin (Russia)
8) Nursultan Nazarbayev (Kazakhstan)
9) Gen. Than Shwe (Myanmar)
10) Moamar Ghaddafi (Libya)
11) Pervez Musharraf (Pakistan)
12) King Abdullah (Saudi Arabia)
13) Omar al-Bashir (Sudan)
And so on...there are plenty of dictators around the world, so take your pick!

I think there have been a lot of good answers here. I think we must define a good or bad leader from the point of view the population has of he/she.

I see no reason for the continued hate for Castro by the Americans. It is quite silly. Castro has done wonders for his country. Cuba has been kept poor by the US embargo.

I am not going to compliment Qaddafi but the population of Libya looks up to him. Remember, also, the US has killed hundreds of thousands more civilians than he has. Let's put that into perspective.

Remember the US was supporting Iraq in the invasion of Iran.

I am looking at US involvement in war crimes and I, in no way, condone other countries of committing war crimes.

It is ridiculous that the US should consider the people fighting against the US are insurgents and terrorist when they should be considered freedom fighters like the ones Reagan equipped and helped in invading Nicaragua.

Well, we certainly would not want to include Bush whose tax cuts have created more real jobs - regardless of the low pay whine - and left more money in the pockets of all taxpayers. It does make him a terrible dictator, doesn't it. Oh, but wait...his term expires in March '09, so another dictator can be elected to the office.

The worst currently are:

Amadinejad of Iran

Chavez of Venezuela

Assad of Syria

Putin of Russia

Chirac of France

Castro of Cuba

Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe. When he took over Zimbabwe had the highest, per capita income in the world, now they are starving. He has ethnically cleansed hundreds of thousands of whites out of the country and destroyed or stolen anything that was worthwhile.

And he is a subject that is not controversial.

Take a look at Iran and North Korea. These leaders would rather starve their own people than back off of terrorism.

Well, first, you shouldn't be punished because your dumb teacher loves GW. You should graded on your rationale for your opinion and analysis.

That said-- some bad leaders...(I'm sure I mispelled names but don't feel like looking them up)

- Pres of Iran
- Khadafi (Libyan leader)
-- Khazalid (Iraqi Leader)
- Olmud (Israili leader)
- Abaas (Palestinian leader)
- Kim Jung Il (N Korean Leader)
- Chavez (Venezuela)
- Bush

I cant remember his name but he invented the Internet, no wait he got a Lewinsky, no wait her man cheated, no wait it had to be the peanut farmer and his drunk brother, no wait maybe it was, no he's dead, maybe, no he's dead too. You should look to the Left wing machine for your answer. Your parents lied to you they got a really big refund for the last few years. And your teacher didn't get a big raise like you heard. after all she has a Masters Degree And most of the people here are illegitimate off spring, or dead fetuses Thanks to the liberal separation of church and state, unless your a Muslim.
