How's this for a telling stat: In the 2006-07 regular season, the whole NFC West division had a grand total of 1 win in 16 games against playoff teams outside of it's division (Seattle's week 3 home win against the 8-8 Giants). ONE WIN! That's just staggering! That is the WORST record of any division against other playoff teams, and the lowest winning percentage (6.7%) of any division in many years. They all got beat (even your "elite" Seahawks) by every good team they saw, and that's the very definition of a weak division. If the NFC West wants respect, they've got to earn it instead of rolling over when the good teams come to town.
I would agree that each team has a good RB, but given their lack of success against good teams, so what? If you can't block (Arizona), throw (SF) or stop anybody (St.Louis), it doesn't much matter if you have Jim Brown in your backfield. They'll get better, but how can you argue that the division was anything but pathetic when they didn't beat anybody good?
So I guess I'm a naysayer, but I think I (and most naysayers) have a pretty good case right now. Hopefully, 2007 will be different...

Nope. The NFC West teams are still who I thought they were. Pro Bowl players are chosen for individual accomplishments, not team success. 2-14 teams have had Pro Bowl players, so the assessment can't be based on that. The top 3 teams were seperated by two games. Strong division or equally crappy teams? Lets look at the teams in the division:
Seattle 9-7: Their record made them look better than what they were. Sure they had injuries, but they played uninspired football plenty of times in the 06-07 season.
St. Louis 8-8: Gave away a couple of games due to bad decisions and pourous defense
San Francisco 7-9: Probably the best team in the division last year, but their youth and inexperience caught up with them the last month of the season.
Cardinals 5-11: Had the NFC Champion Chicago Bears down for the count but let them win by 1 point, a slap in the face of the defense who only allowed a Robbie Gould FG. Ever since that game, The Cardnials were who we thought they were, and they let EVERYONE off the hook.
Not much has changed in the NFC Worst. It welcomes Patrick Kerney, Ashley Lelie, Drew Bennett and others to the fold, but look for a similar result, something like:
1. San Francisco 10-6
2. St. Louis 9-7
3. Seattle 8-8
4. Cardinals 6-10

The Seahawks were elite in 2005, but now, theyre good at best. Besides, a good running back doesnt always mean that the Team is great. I will give the 49ers that they are going to be good within the next few seasons, and will probably make a playoff appearance this season. Those are some great runners, but if you look at their teams records: 9-7, 7-9, 5-11, and 8-8 respectively, thats not that good. Thats a combined record of 29-35. Not too good. Once their teams start winning, then you can call them a good division. Football is a team effort, although those are some great backs they have.

As others have said, football is still a team sport, and one Pro Bowl player can't determine a team's success. Case in point; Dan Snyder has never been shy about adding former or recent Pro Bowl players to the Redskins, but the Redskins usually are lucky to break even. At best.
A Pro Bowl player can help elevate and motivate a team, but having a Pro Bowl player doesn't make a team better.
I think the NFC West is still a weak division, and the joke here being that any division with the Cardinals in it will never be considered strong, but I do think that the West is getting stronger and won't be considered the easy win division for too much longer.

the seahawks are the best team in the nfc....the reason why the division is so weak is because the other teams barly not make it to the playoffs...except the cardinals who arent that great but are still better than the raiders or lions

yeah, it is by far the weakest division. every team has an outstanding player, but its the team as a whole that counts and their records reflect that. seahawks are lucky everyone else in the division is junk. well, was junk. the niners are beginning to rise again. the rams have potential, but i think they kick their own butts in the season. the hawks are lucky with a weak division and have a decent team. the cards are the cards.

Yes, football is a team sport. One pro bowl player on a team doesn't make it a tough team.
