Many Muslims wear the Abaja. Indians wear the Sari or Salwar Kameez. Europeans wear the same clothes they wear at home. There is not special dress code in Dubai. As long as you do not wear shorts and tank top to a restaurant, mall or any official place.
Most comfortable you will feel in loose fitting clothes made from cotton or linen.
Btw: don't buy to much. Download some pics from a catalog, buy material when you are here and take it to a tailer. My tailer charge Dhs 40 per piece!

You can always wear ANYTHING in Dubai.
However, in respect of the local culture, avoid clothes that are too revealing like spaghetti tank tops and short shorts. While no one would actually come up to you to say you're having too little clothes on their disapproving looks will be enough.
Note: Summer is really HOT. When it's cold, it's also cold.

its no longer likely to be fairly heat now. its heading in direction of wintry climate!!. circumvent tank tops on shorts. dubai is an extremely westernized city. you would be bowled over as quickly as you bypass, there are little or no locals. placed on in spite of you prefer yet avoide shorts like warm pants. shorts that bypass under your knee are wonderful. circumvent tank tops too. purely dont placed on something too revealing or you would be getting stares.

you can basically wear whatever you want in Dubai, locals don't take offense because there are so many expats that they're used to it!
