That's what I did. My husband and I had a huge pile in the baby's closet a few months before his due date. I found it very usefull to have everything in the house, because with a crying infant the last thing you want to do is run out to the store because you ran out of wipes.

It depends. We have a four month old and she is big for her age. She's already in Pampers Cuisers and 12 month clothes. If you already have some new born diapers, then I would stockpile Stage 1 and even some Stage 2 diapers. If you have a bigger baby, then they won't be in the newborn diapers very long.
I would be careful about stockpiling baby formula. If you child has a reaction to the formula or has to switch, then you are stuck with extra. We bought $80 worth from Sam's only to find out our daughter was having digestive problems with it. We had to switch to a gentler formula and were stuck with the extra we couldn't use and could not return to the store.
It's safe to stockpile diapers. If you stock pile wipes, I suggest you get the unscented. The scented kind is more likely to contribute to diaper rash. You can get diapers cheaper at Sam's club, Costco or one of the wholesale stores. The Parent's CHoice wal-mart brand unscented baby wipes are great and come in a big box with each pack individually sealed.
Also, Babies R Us has diapers, wipes, and formula as cheap as or even cheaper than Sam's. I was surprised, but all their commodity goods such as this are very cheap if you have a store nearby.
Good luck.
Also, I would not stock pile a lot of new born clothes as the baby quickly out grows these.

I think it is a great idea. Just don't buy too much. You won't need that many newborn diapers. They grow out of those pretty fast. Also, same with the clothes. They grow so fast, and you will probably have enough from gifts. People love to give NB clothes. My baby wore a different outfit everday, and still didn't wear everything she was given before she grew out of NB sizes.
If you want to stockpile.. I strongly suggest you pre-prepare meals and freeze them. As many as you can. The first few months are exhausting and the last thing you want to do is cook. But, it is important to eat healthy to stay strong, alert, and keep up your milk supply (if you are breastfeeding).
Congrats on your upcoming arrival!

Yes absolutely! A great idea is when you have your baby shower, put a note in all of the invitations saying that who ever brings diapers will get a gift card or gift basket to somewhere of your choice. Then all of your guest will bring diapers and you can get like a 20.00 gift card to chilis or somewhere for them..You can't have to many diapers..and if later on your baby grows out of that size don't open them all and you can exchange un opend diapers at the store.. But I say buy now. We did it and didn't have to buy diapers for a long time..glad to because they are expensive and if you have to buy them on the spot you may not have the money then...

yes i would. I wish i would have done this with my baby because you never know when something may happen and the money is low at least you won't have to worry if your baby has a clean diaper to wear. If i were you i would stock up on all different sizes from newborn to size 3. That way you don't have to worry about it. Good Luck and Conratulations

that's what i did!!!
i had already decided to use pampers b/c that's what all the moms i know swore by and so everytime i was at the store i'd buy a pack. i would buy the smaller sizes in small packs b/c i wouldn't want to have 100 diapers and have him grow like a weed (b/c he did!!).
so, i mainly bought the bigger sizes, like 2,3,4 etc.
i made sure i had a good stock of N&1, but if your baby is like mine, then he will be in size2 within 1-2 months!!
also, if you keep them unopened, then many stores, like walmart, will return them for you so you can get the proper size in case baby grows and you're stuck with a pack or 2 of a smaller size.
when it comes to the bigger sizes, though, i started buying the big boxes!! they are the best deal and pampers does rewards. so, there are codes on every pack of diapers and wipes and you can enter them on their website and save them to buy stuff.
PLUS, right now each code enters you into a contest to win free diapers for a certain period of time...3 months, i think!!! yippeee!!
take care and i think that's a TOTALLY normal thing to do!

Great idea, but I warn you that my baby never wore newborn diapers. He went right into size 1.
Same with Newborn outfits. Straight to size 3 months.
Congrats.

I would say yes! If you can do it then start now! The cheapest diapers I found anywhere in the chicagoland area are the Target generic diapers. They also have the cheapest generic baby formula.

Yes, but I wouldn't get more than one pack of newborn, and one or two packs of size one. They grow really fast, we ended up with soooo many extra diapers that my son just grew right out of. If that does happen to you, it would be really nice of you to donate your extras to a pregnancy resource center in your area. They always accept things like that. Good luck and congratulations!
