I'm about your height, and I was considering buying a 15.3 horse that I was leasing. My trainer strongly advised me against buying the horse because she felt that I was outgrowing the horse. I'm glad that my trainer influenced my decison the way she did because I ended up finding the my dream horse- 17.3 TB. That horse was much better suited for me for what I wanted to do (eventing)!

Now, we have two 15.2 QH's that I ride on occasion. They suit me as well, and because the QH's are stocky, I look okay on them. I do not compete on these horses. We just "horse around" so to speak.

So, is 15.3 big enough for you? That's a tough one. Ask yourself: "what do I want to do with this horse?" "does this horse have the potential to do what I want?" "does this horse and I have a strong bond?" Answering those questions might help you make a better informed decision about whether this horse is well suited for you.

It's a little funny when people are talking about horse heights. When someone says 15.3 is too small but 16.1 is great? That's TWO inches difference. Think about it. You saddle is giong to add 3 - 4 inches anyhow. Two inches under your butt is a tiny difference. If you were considering a 15.3 jumper and a 17 hand jumper that might make a difference. Ask yourself is this horse everything I need right now with a little room to improve, and do you Really feel like your feet will hit his knees at any moment or people will point and whisper that you can't afford the next bigger size. Find the best horse for you and don't base your decision on 1 or 2 tiny inches. Good luck I hope you do great with any horse you get.

What are you using the horse for? And are you done growing? The horse is a good size for you. I am 5'9 and I like anything from 15' 2 ( if they are stocky ) on up to 16' or 17' hands. You really don't need a big horse unless you are in competition.

15.3 sounds plenty big for your size. Her conformation is kind of weak though. She has a thin neck, a really tiny hindquarters, and a slightly roached back. Her deposition sounds wonderful though. You would just have to ride her a couple times and see if you like how you fit each other.

Nope. Your horse is fine. I am 5'11'' and one of my horses is 15hh and the other is 15.2/15.3hh. They fit me just fine!

There is no set horse height to rider height ratio. As long as you are comfortable on the horse and the horse can carry you, then you are good to go!
