I've been on the shot and I hated it for numerous reasons, and I found that ortho trycyclen made me kind of a ***** to everyone so now im looking for a method that is healthy and doesnt cause mood swings.

I started out taking ortho cylcen, it made me feel weird and nauseous, so I switched to ortho tricylcen-lo because the dosage was too strong. Since I made the switch I have been fine, periods regulated, mood in check and no nausea, so I guess it's needless to say that worked for me. However, every womans body is different and reacts differently to certain things, so the best advice would be to consult your OB-GYN and let them know your concerns and get some suggestions from them. It may be as simple as putting you on a trial basis of different birth control methods to find the right one for you. What works for me, might not work for you and vice versa, just make sure you are using some alternative birth control until you can figure out what will be best for you. All the best.

All birth controls have side effects. Take Seasonal, My sister recieved an email about her close friend's sister. She was 31, healthy as can be, two kids. Being on the seasonal, She went to a doctor for a lump on her neck, the dr took samples, found it to be a tumor. She passed out one day in the store. Went into a coma, they did a brain scan on her and they found mutiple small clots and tumors in her brain. They did more testing and while in the coma, she died. It turned out to be the Seasonal. The Seasonal makes you have 3 periods a year, which is unhealthy. God gave us a period for a reason, to elimante waste, if that waste is not out, it can back up and God knows where it will end up at. IUD, can have some problems, take my friend Traci, she got pregnant 2x's on the IUD, didn't know she was pregnant and ended up having a miscarriage 2x's. She had to change to the Mirena IUD, so far everything is fine. So just becareful on the Birth Control you use, I know everyone is differnet so becareful.

Good luck with this one.

The shot tends to be the least favored because while it does last for 3 months...it makes you gain some serious weight and I've been told it is not very reliable.

The patch can cause rashes and discoloring on the skin and usually is just not an all around good option.

The pill is going to be the most reliable form, but not easy to remember for people like me who hate taking meds. I was on yasmin and liked it. My doc prescribed it for me because I was havign severe cramps to the point where my mom rushed me to the hospital and other severe issues as well. It took care of all of the problems.

As for the meds making you bitchy....usually its not the meds that does that, but the change in hormones. Then again, who knows. I think that will be difficult to find out.

well, there is no right answer to this question. All bodies are different. All my firends use different kinds of birth control. I had an merina iud for two years until i started having abdominal pain and i had it removed but my mom had hers for it's full length. Now i'm on a pill and it seems to working great. Unless i miss one then i get a terrible headache. It's different for everyone. I would just go to your clinic and talk to them. They have all kinds of things. shots, pills, rings, male and female condoms, two types of iuds, creams...and so on. I would talk to your gonacologist. Good luck with that.

Try taking a lower-dose pill - I'd recommend 'Yaz'. It actually has a lower dose of hormones than the normal pills. I had been on normal BC pills before & was super moody & had weight gain, but now on Yaz I don't really notice any difference from my normal self. I think it did make my boobs a little bigger though, so yeehaw to that! haha :)

Oh & there's no health risk either - I asked my doctor about it & she said it's actually more healthy for you than nature! (Because it's essentially keeping you normal & regular, without tons & tons of hormones)

Try the patch. I don't know of any type of birth control that doesn't cause some mood swings. Good Luck.

id say condoms too, cus any type of pill patch or shot is totally hormonal and will cause some side effects cus its messing with your chemistry.... so condoms or a diaphram cus they just block the entry of sperm to the egg....
