Actually, though any time is fine, the tradition of a christening is the sooner the better. It used to be believed that until the child is christened, they couldn't go to heaven, which is why parent's never let their new babies leave the house until their christening day. I personally did my first at 6 weeks and am doing the same this time. Whatever you decide, however, is fine.

A person should not be Christened until they are old enough to choose their belief.
That is what I did with my youngest . My older two I caved to my mother in law a Bigoted Catholic.
My youngest chose his own direction and has been the most religious without practicing any.
where the other two wher baptisted and force fed religion at grandmas house the summers they spend there in their youth.
My youngest learned by the axium do no harm to others . Treat people as you would want to be treated. He has actually practice religion where the other two are selfish and don't care about the world around them.

well christenings are c of e and the church will let u christen at any age. i was christened when i was 3 n my son was christened when he 10 months. if you are going to christen him is it goin to be for the right reasons as itll be unfair to ur son to christen him for the wrong reasons. if wen your son grows older he decides he wants to follow a religeous path he can then choose to be baptised.

If your catholic it is best done when they are still babies. I had my son christened at 6 weeks. You should get it done when you feel up to it but there is no set time for when you should. My friends little one walked up th aisle to get christened. That in my opinion was wrong. She was acting up and talking to the priest when he was trying to say the mass.

My son was christened at the age of 34, that was when he married a girl of Greek Cypriot extraction and was baptised in the Greek Orthodox Church just prior to marriage. So I guess you can go ahead anytime

Canon Law in the Catholic church says within 6 weeks. However, this dates from the days when a) people believed in Limbo - they don't any more and b) a lot of babies dies within a few weeks of birth.
Most Catholic priests these days will accept your baby for the Sacrament of Baptism however old he is.
Please remember though that being baptised is nothing to do with having a party. You are putting your baby forward to join the Christian family. That is the whole purpose and point of the exercise.
It will not mean that your child will get into the local Church school.

I think it depends partly on religion. I'm catholic and have my babies baptized as soon as possible. As you know, baptism takes away origional sin which is passed down to us from our first parents (Adam and Eve). Also in the Catholic church they do extra blessings. Why wait? I know that if you are a different religion, some protestant religions suggest you wait until adulthood. I know this is not what anybody wants to hear, but just use me as an example: My very first daughter died before I could have a baptism done by a priest (she was a month old). We had to baptize her in the ER. Since then I have had two more daughters both baptized when they were two weeks old, and it was completely fine.

My baby is due June 6. We have already penciled in the baptism for July 8. My husband wanted to do a baptism the day after the birth, but my entire family will have to fly out to our town for the event, and I know that they want to see the "real macoy."

I am Lutheran... so my church's doctrine might differ from your church's doctrine. My doctrine states that any Christian can baptise a baby in the event of an emergency, as long as water is used. As foolish as it sounds, my pastor said that only with a baptism can we (the parents) be assured that our child is "saved." I have a hard time accepting that philosphy...I would prefer believing that God loves His children and a 1 month old, baptised or not, will go to Heaven (be saved).

Anyway, we're baptising our baby when she/he will be about a month old. My main motive was to give myself enough time to recover from delivery and to not to wait too long...just in case something were to happen to our baby.

surely there's no such component as christening too early, from a non secular viewpoint. Your toddler's physician would have suggestions approximately how long to attend before exposing your toddler to all those people contained in the church and the party that maximum folk have later on.
