Our city had one till the early '80's...and then like most of the others it was closed due to the 'mega-cinemas'. Happily...about 5 yrs' ago, a young couple bought the old one, refurbished the old screen and snack bar, and have been running it successfully ever since. We go at least 4-5 times a summer...especially when they have the 'pay by the carload nights'. We love it. Some nights though it can be it a bit unpleasant because of the mosquito's...and we have learned that you shouldn't leave your vehicle running(for the A/C) 'because It is kinda inconsiderate of the others there !

I think they are making a comeback. I lived in San Antonio 26 out of my 27 years and I went to my first one a year ago. They still have one of the original drive-in's there from back in the day (mission drive-in). I LOVED it!! I think the tickets were $10 a person though, not 6. If you get there early enough you can watch all of the movies they are playing. Since it was my first one though, I didn't know that. We cought the last bit of the movie before ours because it ran late. Our movie was supposed to start at 11:30 and it started at midnight. We didn't get out of there till after 2 because of the traffic. It was so cool though. I would love to go to another one!

My first short one is I took my cousin that grew to become into on pass removed from the Marines to make certain "The Omen", wager what i found out adult men scream or maybe Marines can scream genuine loud. not a horror movie buff. the terrific ones nonetheless grew to become into going to the flicks in a %. up with a cab over camper. we could back in stir up the kitchen and do warm canines or burgers, with each and all of the stable stuff and macarroni salad. My companions 2 neices and my daughter could pass play on the playground jointly as we've been given dinner waiting, via the time all and sundry ate, the popcorn grew to become into made the youngsters have been parked on the mattress over the cab with a speaker taped to the window, and us parked in the cab with some popcorn and sodas it grew to become into time for the movie to start. If the youngsters fell asleep we could submit the heavy netting so they could not fall out and domicile we could pass. What great cases and a few distinctly undesirable video clips as nicely as some truly stable ones. great memories too.

We used to have one with the best burgers in town. It was tore down about 20 years ago. They finally opened up a store in it's place and brought the burgers back and they are SOOOO good. I wish we still had a drive-in theatre. I think they are awesome!!

I remember them & I love them. I was only a wee girl but my daddy owned & operated 3 of them. I grew up at the drive-in more or less, learned to count and such before I ever went to school. They were great & I wish they'd make a come-back.

The university I went to had drive in movies twice a year and they were fun to go to. We don't have them where I live but I wish we did. I think it would be something fun and different to do for a change.

Well, you guys should come to "Marty's 50's drive-in Eatery."

It's my restaraunt that I own. We have a bunch of pretty young women drive up to your car while you watch the movies we have planned for the evening and serve you your food. It's in Maryland, you guys should come down.

No, not really but I should so do that.
