9 times out of ten the clog is in your trap if it is a actual shower and not a tub drain you can take the cover off and plunge the trap and get it moving again otherwise a spring snake will work. Never use chemicals in your drains. They have atendency to find flaws in plumbing that will make for a painful mess, caustic substances will burn your skin. if it is a tub drain take the cover off the overflow and stop it up with a wet rag then plunge the drain. If that doesn't get it moving then run the spring snake down the overflow to unclog.

First off, drain the trap if you can get to it and stick your finger in the cleanout and clean the trap.

Call a local plumber and ask if they have BioClean and buy a tub of it. the stuff works
