My daughter decided instead of going to bed she was going to paint the carpet in her room with orange acrylic paint that I had used to paint a mural on her wall. Please help me- we rent and I would really like to get our security deposit back when we move.

Whatever you do don't use paint thinner! It off gassing will cause the fumes if in contact with any spark will cause a explosion and fire! If its just a spot use a product called goof off, if its the whole rug your screwed. You will be liable to replace it.

Maybe you can just replace that carpet by looking for a good deal on something identical or similar. You can try to get the paint out but aren't you using paint remover, etc., that has fumes in a sleeping area? Perhaps it can be done but if, after all that work, the landlord still can detect that there was damage, you'll lose your deposit anyway. Look for a bargain and maybe you will find some inexpensive identical carpeting.

try this! take bleach or a carpet cleaner, and leave it on the carpet for about 2 minute. then use a bath tub scrub to srub the mess up. the problem is solved. good buy!

nail polish remover works good, just make sure you ventilate the room well, before allowing your daughter back in, good luck
