what i am trying to ask is ...why doesn't dreamweaver need server extensions like frontpage needs?

because its a much better programme, Microsoft created frontapge extensions for the servers, which generates more money for Microsoft

I don't know Frontpage but if you are referring to built-in functions to create database driven websites and login pages etc... DW does have it.

It may be that your version of DW doesn't - I think they were missing to versions prior to MX - but you may find free ones online - either on the dreamweaver extension page or below.

If you have a more recent version of DW and still can't see them, you may need to define a testing server first -see below.
