If we didn't go there Saddam and his Sons would still be putting people through wood chippers and doing other atrocities. It's easy for people here in the states to sit in their comfortable homes who are not under threat of their lives to bash what Bush is doing. I for one would love to see the Iraqi people be free like the rest of us. Of course there are many terrorist who still want things like it was when Saddam was in power. A lot of Muslims over there need to come out of their caves and join the rest of us in the 21st century.

Saddam was contained, UN weapons inspectors were doing their jobs. I am not a Bush basher but since the intelligence that the administration used to "justify" this invasion has turned out to be faulty, people no longer support the decision to invade. As far as the people fighting, I don't believe you have a choice as to where you go once you enlist so to say they believe that Bush is right is a pretty broad statement. A soldier must go where ordered or face the consequences. The battle in Congress over more money has nothing to do with not supporting the troops but rather is about not supporting being there in the first place. That's my take on it anyway. And as for where the US would be now, well the resources and troops could have been used to track down and capture the 9-11 conspirators so now the war is being faught on 2 fronts with little public support for Iraq and millions more people who believe the US are the aggressors in Iraq.

A soldier has to obey the orders of Government in power irrespective of his own views. More lives could be saved by avoiding war. Obviously war was started keeping in view of long term interest of nation. However, the result was not as expected. It is always advisable to support the Government in power during war.
