Whith the steady decline of labor unions in the US. Are unions a thing of the past?

Definitely not. I work at a major corporation that has unions at more than one location. They are smaller in numbers as compared to the first industrial revolution but they still do exist and with all the corruption in business I don't see them going away anytime soon.

I'm currently in a grocer's union and I have to say that it has not been a pleasant experience. We almost had to strike last winter just to get a contract. And in this so called contract, they put this legal babble in that noone can understand and many many people's hours were cut in half. They lost benefits, time and vacation pay. We called the union and they said it was in the contract that they could do this. We are gathering together hopefully with other stores to figure out a way to go non union because people can't afford to be shafted like this.
