I mean I know they are free to watch, but on my cable modem box all the lights flicker when Im watching a movie but when Im just browsing the internet they dont! Is this the same as downloading? Will someone please just simplify this for me. Thanks in advance!

Usually the lights on your box flicker when data transfer is active. When you watch those movies your computer is getting a constant stream of data (in the form of the movie you are watching). When you just surf sites, usually either the downloads for that site are quick and don't require the lights to blink. Also, if they are sites you often visit, your computer has most of the files on your computer already (in the form of temporary internet files). In short, you don't pay extra for anything unless that peekamovie place charges you. Which I doubt. So don't fret about it.

When you watch a movie, it is "downloaded" to your computer. Anytime information comes into your computer from the Internet, that is called "downloading". Anything information leaves your computer and goes out to the Internet, that is called "uploading".

When you are atching a movie, you have to downloads lots and lots of information to your computer - 29 frames of picture (plus sound) every second. So you will have a lot more activity on your modem and should see the light blinking almost non-stop. (Compare that to an e-mail - which is probably the size of 3 or 4 frames - and you will realize why you see so much "blinking" when you are watching a movie.)

I am not familiar with the site you listed, but normally if you are going to billed for waiting a movie, they are required to tell you that up front, you have to click on something to agree to pay the fee, and you have to give them information (such as a credit card number) so they can bill you for it. There are also many free videos sites on the Internet.

Downloading is when stuff comes from the internet to your computer. Uploading is when stuff goes from your computer to the internet. simple as. the lights flicker because your box is doing extra work to download the movie fast enough for you to watch. normal browsing is not as taxing on your box. you shouldnt have to pay your internet supplier for any downloads, as long as you stay inside your download limit, which is the max you can download, usually per month.

Downloading is storing data from the net to your PC. Uploading is sending data from your PC to someone or someplace on the net
