I see so many parents driving who swerve in and out of lanes, race through yellow lights, etc., while their children are riding right along with them.

Yes, it is a problem. I've seen it, too. But then again, I've also been the Mom driving, with one kid screaming at the top of their lungs like someone was murdering them while the other one is getting out of their seatbelt and throwing articles of clothing around the car. Of course you need to at least glance back to make sure they're ok, until you can safely pull off the road and handle the situation.

My son used to scream when he'd wake-up - an ear peircing shreik that made me jump everytime, and a couple of times I did swerve slightly.

I think it depends on the level of recklessness. Sometimes I have to make turns or go through lights I don't really want to, but defensive driving forces me to so I can avoid being hit by another driver.

The parents who allow their kids to hang out the window or ride with babies on their laps should be ticketed for child endangerment for sure. And especially the ones with the windows rolled up FULL of cigarette smoke with little ones in there. That's child abuse!

The same as those who drive recklessly without kids in the car, they should be stopped.

The rules should apply to every driver. The problem is, are they breaking any laws? If so, fine them. If not, and they are just being rude, not much we can do. The kids know what's up and will choose their own path later.

I like it.

What do you think? I hate it. I saw someone do that just yesterday. I had to slam on my brakes cut he cut in front of me.

I'm in a van -he was in a little car and I could see the car seat and the top of the INFANT's head. The mom was in the vehicle - not paying any attention to anything.

And smoking, and under the influence, and eating, and arguing, and no seatbelts, and talking on cell phones, etc.
