Ok I LOVE the movie American Beauty..But It's always confused me every time I watch it! Who killed the dad in the end of the movie? I know its supposed to me a "mystery" But I was just wondering what everyone thought! Please post you're real thoughts!Thanks!

It's not a mystery at all. Ok, the next door neighbor's son was dating Kevin Spacey's daughter and he was also selling marijuana to him. The father next door saw him w/ Kevin Spacey and thought his soon was homosexually involved w/ Kevin Spacey. The father goes over to confront Kevin Spacey and tries to kiss him when Kevin Spacy rejects him and tells him that he is not gay. This is when the father returns home, gets his gun, returns to Kevin Spacey's home and shots him.

The boy's father (the neighbor). His dad killed him (Kevin Spacey) thinking he was boning his son and that they were gay lovers. Remember? He sees him hanging out selling the dad weed and he thinks his son's giving him head

Chris Cooper (the neighbor boy's father) killed him because he mistakenly thought he was fooling around with his son.

His daughter's boyfriend's dad (the strict army guy)... He thought his son and Kevin Spacey were having gay relations.

the neighbor killed him.. at first he seemed angry that his son seemed to be having relations with kevin spacey..... but then he shows that he was SO attracted to men which caused him to be homophobic that he couldn't stand that he was attracted to kevin spacey..... and so after kissing him, he shot him to get rid of the attraction.

i'm pretty sure it's the neighbor (the dad) because he is so confused and embarassed about what happened. i love this movie.
