I have an appointment set up at the Regional Passport Agency. Their phone lines are very backed up so it is hard to gett thru to an actual person. Their website directed me to an automated appointment line for people who are traveling withing 14 days. Will I get my passport the same day as my appointment???

I live in the Mid-west and I applied for my passport around the middle of January. I received it in 10 - 11 weeks. Originally I was told 6 - 8 weeks.
I think everyone is learning that sometime soon we will need them to travel to Canada as well as cruises down in the Caribbean Islands and that is overwhelming the system. Also the new passport has some sort of electronic 'chip' embedded into it as well. Maybe that slows down the process too.
I finally booked my overseas flight before my passport came because I was starting to worry about price jumps as my June date started getting closer.....
I didnt go the fast route since I didnt need to. Good luck to you .........

Right now the request for passports is overwhelming. If you expedite your passport..you can receive in like 2 weeks. It cost extra. If you just request regular service...it's taking 8 to 10 weeks before you receive it.

I hope for your sake you do, you must have your ticket in hand along with all of the other documentation. It took my aunt 11.5 weeks to get her passport and she applied for it the 1st week of December. She received it 2 days before we left for Costa Rica to have my wedding.

Good luck to you!!!

it depends - they will try to accomidate as best they can but be prepared for a day or two wait if there are problems - while they do what they can, the state department cant make any guarantees.
