It is thinking like the following that has gotten this country into trouble.,
"Pay no attention to the left wing liberal hacks. All they do is spout off at the mouth with anti-American, anti-Bush rhetoric."

Congress has the job of oversight which they have not done for the past six years. It is not anti-anything to question and a president is not a dictator or king.

" If any of the things the accused the presdient of were true, and if they had any proof any of it was not liberal lies, they would have indeed tried to get rid of him via impeachment."

This president will have the legacy of being the worst president in the history of this country. Impeachment at this time would be a big waste of time and tie up this country for months. Instead the democrats want to get positive things done so they have chosen not to impeach the president.

"All you need to know is liberals (Democrats) are bad and liars, conservatives (Republicans) are good, and you'll be fine."
Absolute power corrupts absolutely! Both parties have shown that when given too much power the temptation is to abuse that power. The republicans tried to impeach Clinton for a personal matter that people like Newt Gingridge have recently admitted being guilty of.

In the case of Bush, he has made many bad decisions because he refused to use the excellent resources available
to him. Instead he gave important jobs to his unqualified friends which he is now paying for. He also claimed to have god on his side. That would be the same as you not studying for a test and then taking the test because you believe god wants you to pass that test. It does not work that way.

The politics that are taking place right now are very complicated and it takes skilled informed dedicated people to turn things around. Impeachment would take too much time away from what has to be done. Many people have stated that it will take a good 20 years to undo the damage that the Bush administration has done to this country. Record defecit spending, over extension of our military, destroying a country that did not attack us, alienating other countries and running this country in secrecy and deception while ignoring the needs of the US citizens for starters create a complicated web

Q. What is impeachment?
A. It is a process, authorized by the Constitution, to bring charges against certain officials of the federal government for misconduct while in office.

Q. Who are these officials?
A. Article 2, Section 4, specifies that "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." These "civil officers" include federal judges and cabinet members, but do not include Senators and Representatives, (the Senate and House deal with misconduct by their own members).

Q. What is the role of the House of Representatives in impeachment under the Constitution?
A. Article 1, Section 2, of the Constitution specifies that "the House of Representatives...shall have the sole power of impeachment." This means that it has the power to bring charges against an official.

Q. What is the Senate's role under the Constitution?
A. Once impeached, high officials are tried by the Senate. Article 1, Section 3, specifies, "The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present."

Q. What punishment does the Constitution prescribe if the official is convicted?
A. Article 1, Section 3, also specifies, "Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law."

Q. What else does the Constitution say about impeachment?
A. Article 2, Section 2, gives the President the "Power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment." Article 3, Section 2, says, "The trial of all crimes, except in cases of impeachment; shall be by jury..."

man everyone on here is mean today! look its like this doing something you dont agree with doesnt mean a crime has been commited, doing something the majority of the people disagree with doesn't mean a crime has been commited, politics is broken down into a couple of different decisions- personal decisions about what you feel is right and decisions you feel the people you represent feel is right. right now the country is about 2/3 Conservative so most of the decisions are going to lean in that direction. the main problem with politics is that with so many media sources and the tendency to report anything bad or controversial you aren't going to hear much good news no matter who is in power. so i think it really comes down to your own value system to figure out which side you come down on. it is not uncommon for young people to start one direction only to find out after they age a bit their values change a bit and they switch sides. seems the more people age the more Conservative they get. but to answer your question you may not like what the president has done but until it is illegal all you can do is complain and wait for an election.

Because that's not how it works. Impeachment is how you charge a president with a crime, because impeachment cannot be pardoned, and no other laws can come between it. When Bush commits an impeachable crime, congress can decide to impeach him, but they are not mandated to. Impeaching him now would just waste time and money. It would most likely fail, because the charges would be on shaky grounds (yes, yes, I know he's lied like Pinnochio, but not under oath). Watch C-Span, they've tried to entertain his impeachment (and Cheney's) 3 times and failed due to lack of evidence.

What you basically have is one political group that cries like babies when they don't win and when they don't get their way. Even when they do get their way, they are not happy. They cry Impeachment as a way of simply getting attention. As much as they hate the President, don't you think, if they had any evidence that would support and impeachment, they would have done so by now?? Babies!!

the impeachment process is very complicated and cannot be used just to remove an unpopular official from office.

a president can be impeached for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." the house of representatives is the only federal body able to begin the impeachment process.
