I have an SUV and its this really bright colored blue that I am not too fond of so I thought about getting it painted black. If I ever want to sell the car down the road, is it going to lose value because it is not the original color, or would it be better because it is a more likable color? Or would it not even matter?

I would think that a car like that would not lose value due to the different color. If you had a classic collector car, that would be a different story. I have a 67 Mercury Cougar that is blue and if I was to paint it a different color then it would not be worth nearly as much as it is now in its original condition. There are some colors that do have lower resale values but I don't think black is one of them.

There are a few factors.

1) If your car is only about 5 years old than i would not recommend you change the color.
2) The Color of your car can have a big impact on reselling so i would pick a color you like but also looks good on the car.
3) If you paint your car it will not loose its value if anything it will add value to your vehicle. However it does depend on the paint job. Remember you get what you pay for. Dont get the cheapest paint job you will regret it.

Yes. Unless you completely strip the vehicle and paint ALL the metal surfaces and put it all back together again so no one would ever know the previous color.
