without giving any spoilers, can you tell me if I should keep a box of tissues close by?

There are parts that jerk @ ya, but for the most part you will be fine!

Geez, I never thought I was a wimp but there are a few parts in TKAM that make me tear up. It is a story of a little girl's coming of age in the American South. It deals with her relationship to her father and his fight against racism and inequality.

I guess I must have issues with my dad who was quite the crusading firebrand when I was a little girl so I get all weepy during some of these scenes. I guess it must all depend on how much you can relate to the story.

You won't need tissues but you will love this book. I have recommended it to a few people and they all thank me.

Maybe twards the last few chapters, but probly not.

it is one of the best books i have ever read in my life,,, and also even if you are not a reader as my daughter is not ,,,she loved the book .... enjoy it

Yes, the mockingbird dies a tragic food poisoning death after eating a rancid worm. It's a tear-jerker.
