No bugs don't come from dust, tho sometimes it seems like they do.

They come one of two ways, by eggs or by live birth. Most likely the adult moth flew in and deposited the eggs on the clothing........or the clothing was "hit" outside of the closet and were not cleaned before storage and the eggs hatched into these worms eating your clothes. Yes, it is digusting.

Live birth insects are like aphids, the mother just pushes out baby aphids which grow and (surprisingly) don't need to be fertilized by a male aphid and will pump out their own live young. Yes, aphids do occassionally mate male/female but it isn't as common as one would suspect.
