The best answer is C, because what lungs do is take in oxygen from the atmosphere and move it into our blood stream, so it can go to every cell, and take CO2 from our blood (where it was placed as the by product of cellular respiration from every cell) and exhale it to the air. However, strictly speaking B is also true - every cell in our bodies undergoes cellular respiration, but I think the question is asking the function of the lungs (the organ) as a whole.

The answer is C. True every cell does undergo aerobic and some (like muscle) undergo anaerobic respiration. The main functions of the Lungs is to diffuse Oxygen into the blood stream via Aveolar Sacs (aveloii) and to diffuse CO2 from the blood stream ( the byproduct of aerobic respiration)

Aerobic Respiration (with oxygen)
Ananrobic Respiration (without oxygen)

Hope that helps.

C is the correct answer.
option A is incorrect as oxygen is taken from the atmosphere by nose-trachea-bronchi-alveoli for use up by cells
option B is incorrect as Carbon dioxide is not produced by lungs but by cellular respiration
option D is incorrect as carbondioxide is for removal not for provision to capillaries as its a waste product.
