I think it is just another one of the scares about the world ending just like everyone started to freak out when the year 2000 was about to come! I don't think anyone can really know exactly when the world will end!

Not that the world is gonna end...It is the end of this Mayan calander. It predicts the cycle of sunspots and storms that cause the earth to change position on it's axis causing a lot of damage. ie; the end of the world as we know it...not the end of the planet. They see "world" as a time frame not a place.
