Its just me and my boyfriend, we know that we want to tube down the river but what else should we do?

There's New Braunfels (Schlitterbahn) nearby, and of course, the biggest outlet mall I have seen!

The only thing in San Marcus is the Outlet mall..I would consider New Braunfels which is about 15 min from there..More to do...Like tubing the Guatalupe all day long...Visiting the Town of Gruene, Landa Park, the Schlitterbaun water park....Taking a drive through the hill country and visiting wineries and touristy small towns on the way...San Marcos is not a good place for a vacation..only for shopping...

Gruene Hall usually has some live music. There is Schlitterbahn, which is a great water park where you can take in your own picnic and drinks (no alcohol). San Antonio is just down the road with the wonderful river walk and Austin is up the road for all sorts of stuff. May is the month of festivals, so check all the nearby towns for those (Luling may have their watermelon thump around then?).
There is shopping (antiques downtown and a huge outlet mall on the interstate). And a snake farm and Aquarena Springs are close by.

There's also the San Marcos Wonder World Cave, and Austin is close, so you can go party on 6th street. You can tube in San Marcos by the University and go to New Braunfels to the best (recognized by Travel television station) Waterpark in the USA. San Marcos is a college town, so there are not loads of things to do, but it is very close to Austin, New Braunfels and San Antonio.

most of the ideas are good, there is a lot of shopping you could do, but not just at an outlet mall, you also have the choice of a huge flea market, just head south on 35 going into San Antonio its not that far, and you'll see the signs. and when you're done you might as well finish the drive in to S.A. and check out all the sights. You'll have about two major little cities to go through, schertz, and unviersal city, both have a lot to offer.
